MLM Genealogy
MLM is an abbreviation for Multi-Level Marketing, also known as network marketing. It is direct marketing with a twist; marketeers do not only profit from their own sales, but also from the sales of contacts they turned into marketeers for the company.
Obviously, a good name for this scheme is pyramid marketing; the more people you convert to marketeers and the more they then convert into marketeers, the higher you climb in the status pyramid of this money-making scheme. Just as obviously, MLM promoters don’t like that word, and constantly claim that Multi-Level Marketing has no resemblance to pyramid schemes at all. They have never voiced such objections against the phrase vampire marketing, so I guess that one is just fine.
MLM Genealogy
I first noticed the phrase MLM Genealogy
on Twitter. you’ve probably
guessed by now that MLM Genealogy
has nothing to with genealogy at all.
It is an ill-chosen phrase that misapplies the word genealogy
in a way never
before imagined. But what is it?
Google does not have a definition in any dictionary, so I decided to ask Wolfram|Alpha: What is MLM Genealogy
. It answered: Wolfram|Alpha isn’t sure what to do with your input.
.
If you are a marketeer in a pyramid vampire marketing organisation, you already know that you make only so much money from direct sales, that the real money is made in biting and infecting victims recruiting new blood other marketeers to become your blood slaves downline, so that you will make money from their sales. Ideally, they should bite recruit many others in turn, and do so quickly; if their vampire clan network grows in power, yours grows even more.
Ideally, you would like to bite recruit another clan owner an experienced bloodsucker marketeer with their blood slaves network already in place. Those experienced vampires marketeers are up for grabs after their soul owner upline has been staked gone bankrupt.
Such an experienced vampire marketeer is,
for no sensible reason, referred to as an MLM genealogy lead
, and there
are companies that will gladly sell you such lists. These companies describe
themselves as being in the MLM Genealogy
business.
Until these marketroids wise up and start calling it MLM Power Leads
, MLM Waterfall Leads
,
Downline Leads
, Marketing Vassals
, Sucker Leads
, or something similar, and every last one of them has stopped calling it MLM
Genealogy Leads
, I will keep calling their disrespectable business vampire
marketing, call them vampires, call their downline a blood clan,
call their upline their blood owner, and call their leads Vampire Blood Trails.
Those phrases are just so much more accurate, descriptive and evocative of their actual
business practices and intentions and than the insensible MLM Genealogy
will ever be, that I think I will keep using them anyway.
To avoid vampire genealogy
spam in for example Google or Twitter, do not search for
"genealogy", but for "genealogy" -"MLM genealogy"
instead.
