I just flipped the virtual switch: I have enabled IPv6. This site is available over IPv6 now.
This is not a change from IPv4-only to IPv6-only,
this is a change from IPv4-only to a dual-stack configuration;
you can use either IPv4 or IPv6 to connect to the site now.
This is to cater to the small but growing number of users without IPv4 connectivity.
If you are still using an IPv4-only configuration, nothing changes for you; you continue to access the site over IPv4.
If you are using a dual-stack configuration yourself, your system can connect using either
IPv6 or IPv4, and should automatically prefer IPv6 over IPv4.
If you are using an IP6-only configuration, then you no longer need to use an IPv6 to IPv4 gateway
to access the site, but can now access it directly.
One day, when practically everyone is using IPv6, support for IPv4 will be terminated. That day is still years into the future. The site will continue to offer both IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity for many years to come.
